Art – Community - Family – Children….what a wonderful joining at FunWithChalk! Enriching creative expression in children enhances their personal development. The regional community benefits with a family-oriented free event that marries live chalk art with musical performances and hands-on children’s art workshops. And the reach extends throughout the community as the event proceeds fund art scholarships, art therapy, and pay for all types of arts equipment to enhance public schools programs in music, graphis, performance, fine arts and expressive arts. Who could imagine that simple sticks of chalk for drawing images on asphalt could ignite so much goodness? That’s the legacy of FunWithChalk.

“From what people have told me, and from what I have noticed over the last ten years, is that the FunWithChalk Festival is an event they look forward to every year. The community atmosphere of the visitors strolling past the artists, seeing the art work as it is being drawn, and the conversations they are open to have with the artists, is what is prominent. The artwork provides a media for the community to come together to express ideas, images and feelings. It inspires artists young and old to participate and enjoy fellowship together. It’s a wonderful weekend of enjoying the visual and musical arts, and an outdoor meal!”

“Just want you to know that it has been a pleasure for my sixth grade students to help with setting up FunWithChalk for the past 10 years or so. Believe it or not, 10 years times about 100 different students every year translates into giving approximately 1,000 Mission Viejo kids an opportunity to give back to the community they are so richly blessed to live in. Thank you so much!”

FunWithChalk has been a highlight for the community for the past 12 years! It is a unique, fun, and enriching experience that draws visitors from all over Orange County. Individual of all ages are fascinated by the transformation of an asphalt parking lot into a gallery of beautiful chalk paintings! Many visitors come on Saturday, watch both amateur and professional artists create their works, and then return on Sunday to see the finished art. In addition to the street painting, there are many different activities offered. Children love the art workshops where they can create their own pieces of art. The variety of booths and art exhibits, plus musical entertainment provide for many hours of enjoyment for visitors of all ages! We are fortunate to have this fantastic festival here in the city of Mission Viejo!”

“FunWithChalk has been a generous labor-of-love for over a decade. All of the student scholarships that you have given to high school seniors who are studying the arts has helped to foster and support these young musicians and artists. FunWithChalk also supported a great deal of supplies and equipment for Visual and Performing Arts in the Capistrano and Saddleback School Districts. This equipment will be used by students and teachers for years to come. Thank you FunWithChalk for supporting the arts in our community!”
